She studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she won the Sydney de Vries Opera prize. A Caird Scholarship enabled her to continue her studies and as a result of being heard in the finals of the Kathleen Ferrier Scholarship Competition was offered a contract with D’Oyly Carte Opera Company.
